Our

Mission

To create a space where individuals find shared support and a sense of belonging empowering them to feel good in their bodies and connect with their community, free from intimidation and the pressure to be perfect.

why

It’s more than just a name. We chose ‘Yoke’ for a reason, or rather, for two. Firstly, it’s a nod to yoga itself. The word ‘yoga’ originates from the Sanskrit ‘yuj,’ meaning ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’ – reflecting our vision of bringing together mind, body, and soul within a holistic space that integrates diverse wellness practices.

Secondly, a yoke is that strong piece of wood that binds two oxen, enabling them to carry a heavier load together. This symbolises the shared strength and collaborative effort we aim to cultivate at Yoke, acting as the binding force for our community.

We envision Yoke as more than just a studio; it’s a place where individuals find both personal growth and collective support. Here, we lift each other up, sharing the weight of life’s challenges and building a community where no one carries their load alone.

Meet our founders

Yoke embodies the lifelong bond between two sisters, Emma and Lucy. Looking out for each other, celebrating each other’s journey, and fostering growth has always been instinctive for us. Yoke is our way of extending that same care and encouragement to our wider community – our neighbours, our friends, our family. It’s the change we want to see: a safe and nurturing space where connection to self and others flourishes, empowering everyone to embrace their wellbeing enjoyably and sustainably.

Just as we’ve always leaned on each other for strength and progress, our vision for Yoke is to be that constant source of support for our community. A place where we can all move, breathe, and evolve together, embracing our perfectly imperfect selves and finding strength in connection.
